Extended Program: K-5

Extended Program

Schoolhouse believes the growth and development of students does not end at dismissal. The Extended Program provides a rich and thoughtful environment that recognizes both the need to continue to nurture children’s curiosity while also giving them a place to unwind after a day at school. Morning and after school extended programs are open to all students, K-8, at $12.50/hour. The morning program starts at 8:00 a.m. until school begins. The after school program is available from dismissal until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The students have opportunities for mixed age group activities, both inside and outdoors. During extended care, the students bring their own snack, and have a mix of open play or structured project options.

Enrichment Classes

Enrichment classes are another component of the Extended Program. These classes offer a selection of opportunities that reflect Schoolhouse's belief that children learn best by doing hands-on projects that spark their creativity and curiosity. Typically, there are three 8-10 week sessions in a school year with classes that are one to one and a half hours long. Classes vary from session to session. Examples of programs include how to play a ukulele, yoga, hip-hop dancing, learn about animals, sewing, Lego robotics, and create your own board game. The programs are taught by Schoolhouse teachers and established external programs. Costs vary depending on the type of class.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact Lauren Burgat, Operations Manager (lauren.burgat@sfschoolhouse.org) or Jina Kim, Head of School (jina.kim@sfschoolhouse.org).
